Uncle Shucks Pumpkin Farm

I took the girls to Uncle Shuck's pumpkin farm Sunday afternoon. Alan had just gotten home from Japan and was too tired to go with us, so... we left him at home!

It was our first visit there and it was pretty cool. We tried to do the corn maze, but after 30 minutes of ending up at the same place, we gave up and went on the hayride! After that we picked out a pumpkin- we will take that home to Dad for his part-PUMPKIN CARVING!!

Look who joined the lost tooth club!

Well, Reagan lost her first tooth! She was so funny- the thing was just hanging there and she would not let me pull it ! She said she thought her head might come off! Finally, she couldn't eat because it hurt to bite down so she let me pull it out. I have never seen her so happy! I left the room to get Sydney ready for school and Alan said she was just staring at her tooth and grinning!

Double Digits!!

10

She' 10- yep. How did that happen so fast? It seems like just yesterday we were trying to figure out what to name her, learning to tie shoes, losing the first tooth( which I wasn't there for by the way! Her dad was!)
For her birthday, we went to Outback Steakhouse- her favorite- where JoJo and Tyler joined us for dinner. Then on the following Saturday, she had a pool party at our pool. She had cake and pizza, plenty of friends and grass skirts! Now what else could a 10 year old girl want?
Oh yeah, she wants a horse too.

First day of school!

Well, I can't believe the first day day finally arrived. My babies are growing up to fast. Sydney started 5th grade- this is a big year for her. It is her last year in elementary school. Next year we will be in MIDDLE SCHOOL!
Reagan started first grade. She is just beginning the long journey of school and already thinks the day is too long! I hear ya sister!

Ever wonder how 6 year olds party?

The afternoon of Reagan's birthday, we had a party at the our community pool. She had all of her favorite people in attendence-including two young fellows who were not sure about a party of all girls!! we swam, ate pizza and cake, and opened presents. What more could a girl ask for?
Oh yeah....a horse!

Reagan is 6!

After having a special birthday breakfast at home,

we took Reagan for a hike up Sawnee Mtn.

she loves the outdoors and has
wanted to go hiking forever
it seems!!

welcome summer!

Ahhh... the days of no homework, staying up late, and sleeping in are finally here! The first week out of school was spent watching tv and swimming! We went to my parents' house in Mississippi for a week. The girls had a lot of fun. The pictures are from a visit to the lake complete with swimming a boat ride on the lake and a picnic. The weather was awesome! Oh, I almost forgot a highlight of the trip was seeing Mamaw's new puppies. Sydney posed them in this flower pot and it was such a cute picture!

When we got home, the girls went to VBS at a local church and this week Sydney is having tennis camp. She was very nervous when I dropped her off this morning. Poor thing, she didn't know a single person! I was wishing I had found a friend to sign up with her! But, I let her take my cell phone with her so she could call me if she needed to. She just called on her break- She said she was having a great time and really liked it! So funny she is using a cell phone.

Silver Reader

Today was Sydney's awards day for accelerated reader. She was recognized in 2nd place in top readers in her class. She was so pleased! She had been working really hard the last few months. Here is a picture of her getting her silver reader medal with the principal at their new school.
Afterwards they had an ice cream party.

I can't believe it!!!

As you know, Mary Higgins Clark is my favorite author. I have been reading her books since high school.I have ALWAYS wanted to meet her and get a book signed. Well... I just so happened to be checking her website for her new book-released every April- and discovered that she was going to be here in Atlanta on the 8th of May. Just in time for Mother's Day, how convenient! I invited my mom to come. She started me reading these books and likes them as much as I do. Anyway, she couldn't come and everyone else I asked had prior commitments.

So, I asked sydney to go. She looked at me and said, "Really? You want to take me?" She was so excited! Probably because she saw me dancing around the kitchen when I found out she was coming here.

Anyway, Mary(yes, we are on first name basis now:)) has a children's book out that she wrote last year. we got a copy for Sydney and she had it signed. We had the BEST time!

Hope you enjoy our photos!

Karate Kid

On March 29, Sydney got her first yellow belt in Seibukan Karate. She was so excited! Sydney has been taking karate at her grandaddy's karate school since August. I must say I have been very impressed with her. She relly gives it her all when she is in there practicing. I thinks she may take after her dad and grandad!
She never has been one for outdoors or sports, but I think she may be changing her mind on that. recently we played tennis with some friends and she loved it. She also has expressed interest in taking gymnastics.

Easter

So here it is March 24th and I am way behind on posting! We have been very busy with family visiting the past few weekends. We have new neighbors-twin girls that are Sydney's age- and they have been having a blast. So far, we have had a fashion show-which they video taped-and lots of backyard games. We fenced our yard and they have loved playing back there. (me too b/c I know where they are!)

We went back to our old church for Easter. Alan sang I Believe. God did His usual and blessed our socks off. Alan had been getting sick with allergies and could barely sing. But when he got on stage, he didn't miss a note. What an awesome God we have. (He couldn't sing on the way home.) Being back at Silverdale made me miss it even more! We had an awesome worship!

We stayed with our friends April and George and our girls dyed eggs and had an egg hunt.

New Year's Day 2008

Well, we ended the 2007 year in sunny Florida(80*) and began a New Year in not so warm Georgia! (Upon arrival at 7:30 p.m. a chilling 40*) We drove most of the day stopping only once for lunch and gas, until we were almost home. Then of course we finished off the trip at Cracker Barrel with the traditional New Year's Day meal-black-eyed peas, cole slaw and turnip greens. (unfortunately, we were still dressed for Florida temps wearing short sleeves, jeans and flip flops!)
After we were home and had the girls settled into bed, we discovered it was snowing! A very light snow, only lasting a few minutes, but hey- when it snows in Georgia you get excited even if it is just one or two flakes!
We enjoyed a new year's trip to visit Alan's grandmama in Florida. We went to the zoo while we were there. It was really an impressive zoo. The highlight of the girls' trip was riding a camel! They also had their face painted with a peacock design-very cute. Of course, I didn't pack as well as I thought and we had to go to the nearest Target for shorts!!
I decided to take Susan up on the blogging resolution and try this! Maybe we can keep each other accountable! I also have a new year's resolution to get my photo albums in order!
Well, I am going to get my kids in for an early evening!
